BARD ON THE BAY 2022 PRESENTS...
ROMEO & JULIET
BY WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
After a two-year-long hiatus, Bard on the Bay returns this summer with one of Shakespeare's most prolific works, Romeo & Juliet. Theatre Georgian Bay is thrilled to bring this family-friendly tale of star-crossed lovers outdoors to Collingwood's Shipyards Amphitheatre this July.
Our Bard on the Bay performances are offered to the community as a pay-what-you-are-able event. Our goal is to make theatre accessible and affordable for our audiences - all families can come and enjoy an evening of theatre without breaking the bank.
Please note all performances will run rain or shine unless it proves dangerous to do so. We suggest that you bring blankets, umbrellas, hats, sunscreen, jackets, cushions, chairs, or anything else you may need to make yourself comfortable and prepared for the weather.
We encourage you to pack and enjoy your own refreshments, but to preserve and protect the beauty of our natural surroundings we kindly ask that any garbage be removed from the site following the performance.
SYNOPSIS
Set in fair Verona, an age-old vendetta between the Montagues and the Capulets has shattered the peace. Threatened with death by the Prince if either family brings violence into the city streets again, tensions have never run higher. A chance meeting at a private party between the Capulet's only Daughter and the Montague's party-crashing son sets the stage for these star-crossed lovers. Romeo and Juliet struggle to keep their love a secret as their families' strife builds to tragic new heights.
