FRANCESCA RANALLI

Francesca performs, directs, and produces theatre, opera and recital. Her work has taken her across Canada, into Europe and the United States. Actor/singer credits: ‘Vanda’ in Venus in Fur, ‘Red’ in Red, ‘Portia’ in The Merchant of Venice, ‘Elizabeth Bennet’ in a stage adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, ‘Lady Macbeth’ in Macbeth, ‘Cherubino’ in The Marriage of Figaro, ‘Olga in Eugene Onegin, ‘Kate Pinkerton’ in Madama Butterfly, ‘Donna Elvira’ in Don Giovanni and ‘Prince Orlofsky’ in Die Fledermaus.  

 

Directing credits: Romeo and Juliet and Into the Woods (self-produced), The Brothers Grimm (Opera Nuova, Edmonton), Assistant Director for Carmen (Opera Nuova, Edmonton) and La Traviata (Highlands Opera Studio). Directing Intern with Opera Nuova, including excerpts from Hamlet, Lakme, Mignon, Louise, and On the Town. Francesca holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Ottawa and has participated in Opera Nuova’s Directing Internship, Salamander Theatre’s Shakespeare Young Company, and Opera Lyra Ottawa’s Young Artist Programme.  Francesca is the founder of Troubadour Theatre Collective, currently creating work in London, Ontario. Francesca looks forward to exploring Twelfth Night with Theatre Georgian Bay this summer, and to playing ‘Kyra Hollis’ in Troubadour Theatre Collective’s production of Skylight in August.
